For a prestigious Cath Kidston press launch, situated in the Royal College of Art building off the Strand, we were asked to create museum-style display cabinets. Using reclaimed weatherboards from an old garden shed, we sanded back some of the paintwork and made good the aged timber to create the specific desired look, designed to complement the product ranges to be displayed.
The Cath Kidston design team used one of the vaulted areas in the building to produce a 50’s sitting room with detailed artefacts from that period alongside their latest furnishings. Once subtly lit, we walled off the space to make an enclosed room. This could then be viewed only through various peep-holes drilled through the wall sections. The end result was an atmospheric and intriguing exhibition display.
